General Motors Asia Pacific reports that the 2010 Camaro’s are already sold out, even when they have not officially gone on sale or had pricing announced yet.

The 360-hp BMW 550i, 380-hp Lexus GS460 and the 382-hp Mercedes E550 all have one thing in common.  They all have less power than next years new Infiniti M56.

“Luxury customers want more engine power,” said Larry Dominique, VP of product planning for Nissan North America Inc. “When they are paying $7,000 to $10,000 more for the V-8 version, they want more power.”

Infiniti hopes to improve upon their #7 market share spot in the V8 luxury segment with the new M that will debut in December.

The new 5.6L V8 replaces the outgoing 325 HP 4.5L V8 that is found in the current Infiniti M45.

The rumors are true, the Fiat 500 will be built in Mexico where the PT Cruiser and Dodge Journey are currently assembled.  The engines will probably be built in Chrysler’s Trenton, Michigan plant as well.

Chrysler, under Fiat control decided to keep the PT cruiser in production at the Mexico plant, which many thought was just to keep the plant up and running until Fiat 500 production began.

Expect to see the small Fiat in about a year.

The largest automaker in Europe – Volkswagen AG – is about the get a bit bigger.

VW will pay 3.3 billion euros (4.7 billion dollars) for Porsche with the plans that they will merge completely by late 2011.

Porsche tried to overtake VW to gain access to technologies and parts to help it meet the looming fuel economy and emissions regulations, but took on 10 billion in heavy debt during the process.  This forced Porsche to reconsider the scenario and ask for help from Volkswagen.

VW already supplies a vast amount of equipment to Porsche, including bodies for the Panamera and Cayenne.

To afford the purchase, VW plans to offer preferred shares in 2010.  Porsche will now join Audi, Lamborghini, Seat, Skoda, Bentley and Bugatti.

Sideswipe_Corvette_Stingray_Concept

During GM’s chapter 11 process and the death of many other GM performance cars, it was thought that GM would likely delay the next generation Corvette until 2014 (at the least) but we just got word that it will be arriving in 2012 as a 2013 model.

All GM has really said about the 2013 Vette is that it will be lighter than the C6 and may even use a smaller V8 than what Corvette fans are use to.  It will also be retaining its front engine platform, so the mid engine rumors can go back to the mill they have been coming from since the 1980’s.

Expect moderate stying cues from the pictured 2009 Sting Ray concept.

As we find out more you will hear it here first.
