2010ShelbyGT500-exteriorFord-Coyote_02_issue_110_Original

You dont have to look very far to find development information pertaining to Fords upcoming 5.0L “Coyote” V8 that will replace the current V8 offerings across the board.  Obviously, a version will end up in the Mustang.

The new line of engines for the Mustangs are said to include a 3.7L 315 HP Duratec V6, a 400 HP naturally aspirated “Coyote” V8 for the GT (shown) and a reworked 5.0L Coyote with twins for the GT500 with as much as 600 HP is rumored.  If there is anything wrong with the current GT500, it is its heavy iron lump 5.4L supercharged V8.  The next generation engine is to have an aluminum block and heads.

The 5.0L displacement is no coincidence either, and you can expect a return of the 5.0 fender badges made iconic in the 1980’s and 90’s.

Also on the plate for 2012 will be the return of the Mustang Boss, details are still minimal but it is said to be a very focused streetable road racer, much like the 1970 Boss 302 that was raced in the SCCA along side the Z28 Camaro, T/A Challenger and Plymouth AAR Cuda.

040

Ahhh the Muscle Car days, back when the Big 3 were actually the Big 3 and not “The Detroit 3″ that are in a desperate fight against foreign competition to not only stay competitive, but to just stay in business.

By following the link to the gallery, you will see how print ads were made back then.  Some funny, some trippy but most were there to grab your attention with blatant statistics and funky catch phrases.

Maybe its time for the “Detroit 3″ to begin using similar print advertising tactics for certain models again.

Holley Equipped logo

Holley, the over 100 year old company famous for their performance carburetors and other components have filed for bankruptcy now twice in just two years.

Holley had filed in 2008 and emerged not long after swapping their equity for 95 million in second lien debt.

The Company, which owns such others as Nitrous Oxide Systems, Flowtech, Weiand and Hooker, said that sales flopped a brutal 40% after emerging from their first chapter 11 filing.

Company Co-CEO and CFO Thomas Tomlinson said that the second filing came after debt holders threatened to foreclose on Holleys assets after Holley rejected a forbearance proposal by debt-holders including Wells Fargo, as the administrative agent, and Regiment Capital Special Situations Fund IV LP, which Tomlinson said would have taken $2.5 million out of the business.

The Romanian Times reports that the Top Gear filming of season 14 will include footage from the Transfagarasan road in central Romania, where the crew have asked for the road to be closed for two days while they film.

The Transfagarasan is the highest elevation road in Romania, as it climbs up to 2036 meters, 1034 of those in just 30 kilometers.  The segment is said to be one of 14 episodes outlining different driving destinations around the world.

In typical Top Gear fashion, they were piloting a Lamborghini LP560-4 Spyder, Aston Martin DBS Volante and a Ferrari California.  After the first day of taping, the 3 hosts had a Romanian dinner and the restaurant owners were impressed with their un-mega-star like antics;  “We offered them traditional peasant soup and barbecue, at their wish. They were all very friendly; they didn’t act like stars but like normal people. They all liked our natural ingredients.  We’re proud we had them as our guests”

Top Gear season 14 will begin airing in November.
