Information pertaining to the 2011 Challenger has come from a reliable source. The SRT8 will shed the 6.1L HEMI for a larger, more powerful but more fuel efficient 6.4L HEMI with anywhere from 475-525 horsepower. The car will also enlist a roof mounted fin-style antenna, a newer more attractive steering wheel and door handles to coincide with the new passive entry feature, that will allow you to enter the locked car as long as you have the key fob in your pocket.
As of now, it looks like Chrysler will have a nice line-up for the 2010 2011 auto show season, as this engine will be powering the newly designed 2011 Chrysler 300 SRT8 and Dodge Charger SRT8 as well as the Challenger.
03-25-2010 UPDATE. - 2011 Dodge Challenger is supposedly going to be updated in the looks department with an updated fascia. The body of the car will still be the same except for subtle updates (possibly LED headlamps), so the car can debut as a fresh face along with the new 300 and Charger this coming November. The floorpan of the car is also going to be tweaked so the SE model will be able to fit the new MultiAir and direct injection Pentastar V6 engine.

Executives did say that the challenger would get a boost for the 2011 MY so I take it the 6.4 was what they were talking about
any news if jeep will build an srt-8 model for the redesign grand cherokee..i dont want to buy the old style if the new style will be built..thanks
The SRT engineers were working on a new SRT8 vehicle 6 months ago, they just didn’t say which one, so I don’t know for sure. I hope they do, and if so, it’ll have more power with the 6.4L HEMI that is more fuel efficient than the current 6.1L.
It is very true that the 2011 challenger is getting the 6.4L. My brother works for the plant and the confirmed it for sure last Friday. The new gas ratings for vehicles will not start until 2015. So now is the the time for horsepower wars we have five good years so enjoy.

I just bought a 2010 SRT 8 6.1 Challenger. The bottom line question in my mind is, will the body style be changed or just the power output? Will the body style change drastically?
They say the 2011 will now get a facelift, it has not been confimed but the insiders have hinted towards it.

If your brother is connected with chrysler, please tell him we dont really need a lot more motor. the engine combo’s it has are already potent, lighten this turd 500 pounds and fix the handling and it will be competitive. I waited and waited, drooling over challenger news about release dates for ever. This was what they decided to deliver, a 4200 pouind turd with great looks. EPIC fail, the mustang, some 800 pounds lighter and 60 Horse power less kills this car in every preformance category. I love dodges, have owned many, make this right for gods sake so we can be proud dodge owners again while we kick everyones ass.
The Camaro is faster but come on guys the Challenger is the only true retro with true muscle car looks. The Camaro looks nothing like the originals and is clearly just a modern looking car that belongs in a Transformers movie. Thanks Dodge for bringing back the real Muscle car.

Please don’t make this anything like a run of the mill mustang or throw away camaro. This car is unique and I for one would like to keep that way. Please don’t make it a cheap pony car.

I know i will be the first in line this time around to order a black srt8!! i hope it looks as good as the 2010 and 2009 version!!! Also i hope it stays on schedule to be on production in nov as scheduled!!
The 2011 GT500 weighs in at 3725 lbs with 550 hp (600 with just a tune) and a well sorted suspension. The only thing selling any Challenger is the looks. Damn shame if you ask me.

True statement. The 2K charge for a Manual (adds up to 3500 when you really know a manual should be less money) stopped me from buying one. Smoke a Challenger for 10K less with my GT500. Challenger interior is worse out of the 3 muscle cars.
I am now hearing burbles that the 6.4L may be all aluminum.

On March 20, 2010 I took delivery of my `10 R/T classic in Plum Crazy. I waited for this car since last year and I have to say I`m glad I did!!! This car has something the Camaro and Mustang don`t have, its soul!!! I need to make a statement to ALL the none Mopar people on here, your Mustang GT500 is Faster! Your new Camaro handles better! Does this make you happy? I can tell you one thing I`m willing to bet, if I pull into the parking space next to either one, I KNOW which one they`ll crowd around!!! New 6.4L is said to have MDS, like the current 5.7L has. Although it is only likely to be available on the automatic cars and not the 6-speeds. Horsepower is still anyones guess but its likely to be 475 at the minimum.
I was my local dealership last week and I can’t decide what color I want. This is the most beautiful car out of the three hands down. Salesman told me that there was only 400 plum crazys made.
OK yes the Mustang GT 500 and camaro ss are faster. But the challenger is just a bigger car that seats three in the back, while the other 2 can fit only 2 little kids. Ive been to car shows and seen all 3 cars. The camaro and mustang guys were just sitting alone talking to thereselves about my car is faster, while the challenger guys are asking people please dont touch the car-having to put ropes up to keep people off there cars!

I was super close to getting a 2010 SRT8 but a friend of mine that works at the plant told me to wait for the 2011 SRT8. He says it’s worth the wait. 7 more months
